About Us
We are the Carolina Christian Homeschool Group. Our group is currently comprised of 8 families with the same goal, to raise our children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. We all have the desire to see that our children get the best education that we can give them. We each love having the opportunity to teach our children and see the delight in their eyes when they grasp new concepts in their studies. It is such a joy to see the satisfaction a child gets when he/she comprehends and excels in their lessons.
Many people worry about whether their child will get "socialization" there is no worry for that! Take a look at our photos and see what fun they have in fellowshipping with one another. We have many events planned for the year and look forward to all that God has for us for the 2011/2012 School Year.
Our Beginning
Three years ago, at a homeschool party, the moms started brainstorming about ways to help each other to establish a co-op that would provide reinforcement of current studies as well as offering some enrichment classes.
Last year a small group decided to recruit Lydia Bane to meet with us and focus on some specific areas for the group. The kids and parents both enjoyed those classes and we have decided to have her incorporate that into our studies again this year with the focus being on Science and History.
We are so excited about the 2011/2012 school year. God has allowed us to gain a focus and has sent just the right people along to plan and accomplish some great things.
For me personally, my mindset has always been to homeschool until a better option opened up. This summer I even strongly considered enrolling my children in public school. The Lord has opened up doors this year that has renewed my vigor to dedicate my time and what little talent I have to my children and invest personally in their education and do what I can to guard and mold their minds to be Christ centered and Christlike. I desire to do it wholeheartedly as unto the Lord rather than begrudgingly and overwhelmed with stress.
To me, that is what defines a co-op...support for child and parent alike. Fellowship and encouragement with those who desire the same.
I don't want to be guilty of cheating my children. This is the path that He has chosen for us and even if "I" would prefer a Christian school or someone to do it for me, the co-op has been a help to me in accepting this path and determining to do it well.
The ideas, creativity, dedication shared among us amazes me and blesses me. I feel the Lord has brought us together with our different strengths and weaknesses to accomplish great things for our children and through our children.
I say to God be the, great things He has done and great things He is going to do!
